Paddling on Rio Beni – estimated distance 830 km, pace 30-35 km/day, duration four weeks.

As I do not have enough experience, the Amazon Jungle is the hardest part. I hope that with the help of local guides I will raft safely on Beni River. In Rurrenabaque I want to buy a rowing boat. Since I have no idea of rivers, nor of boats, nor the jungle, it seems to me that this adventure stage is the greatest challenge. Rurrenabaque is the last port for the average tourist. This means that the village is supported by tourism, what might mean that no one do me a favour for free. And I need an honest advice. I heard about a guy called Pele, who knows a lot. He lives in Rurrenabaque, but if anyone can give me information on rafting on Beni, about buying the canoe, any practical advice, etc, I’ll appreciate. I met a guy who ensures me that rafting on Rio Beni is technically simple. Probably yes, but I'm a novice.

Whatever, there are no major rapids between Rurrenabaque and Riberalta, apparently there are no problems with navigation either. Nevertheless, I will try to travel there in the dry season (low water level, lower risk of malaria), which is between May and October.
