Equipment introduction

What equipment take on your journey with you? Is it worth buying a new backpack, tent, etc? These questions will always bother us. Neither a website nor a person exist who tells us what is right and what is wrong. Changes in technology, fabrics, materials, knowledge, and above all the different ways we perceive the sense of own comfort. It’s all personal.

The matter of equipment amount is quite simple - take only that what you really need. It’s easier to say than do and usually we end up with a few things that were almost unused during the trip.

The matter of equipment quality is a bit more complicated. The personal balance between weight, comfort, durability, volume, using frequency and price has to be found out. If we travel by car we don’t really have to worry about the weight. The following equipment analysis relate to the hikers. There is no doubt – the lighter bag you carry the faster, easier and more enjoyable you go. The total weight of my new tent, sleeping bag, mat and backpack (2.8 kg) is less than the weight of my previous backpack alone!!! Gear for expeditions should meets four conditions - lightweight, sturdy, easy to use and easy to fix.

How to find out whether the product will be good enough? Well, you need to experiment, read reviews, ask other people about their equipment etc. The good news is that the equipment is getting better and cheaper.
