29.10 rest Apollo Bay 3 10   Family time

I'm sitting next to the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road. I'm waiting impatiently, and since I don't have a phone, I don't know exactly when to expect my family's arrival. About an hour later I heard the sound of running, turned my head and saw a green children's T-shirt. Without thinking I ran in that direction - five seconds later I was embracing my son. After a while Ewelina reached us and the family was reunited again. Such moments are beautiful.

We went on a trek called the Great Ocean Walk. On the first day we also had the company of Jack, who helped us immensely with the logistics and organization of the stage. In the evening we did a small party at the campsite, and the next morning a cake with gifts for the 8-year-old birthday boy.

We did over 100km route easy pace, doing only 10-15 km a day. The route ran along the coast and even though the weather wasn't good, the views were beautiful, the beaches empty, the cliffs majestic and the forests full of life.

The views from the campsites in Devils Kitchen and Johanna Beach, walks on wild beaches (although the incoming tide blocked our way several times and we had to turn back), playing and watching koalas in Blanket Bay, encountering a snake in Cape Otway, or just carefree time spent talking together.

The weather did not spoil us, it rained more or less, but every day. The tent must have already passed its life time because it was leaking, and the tracks turned into muddy streams. And despite this, neither the wife nor the son whinged even once. They walked bravely in wet shoes and enjoyed the hike. I am proud of them and delighted with their attitude, I wish everyone have such companions during the journey.

We reached Apollo Bay on the eighth day of the trek, and here we were rewarded with a house to ourselves. Another great gesture from people we met earlier on our way - Mary from Larapinta tried to arrange this house for us and succeeded, in addition, at no cost. Here we could spend the whole three days playing, having fun and laughing. Fantastic time.
