Run across Poland 1998
<< European trips
I wanted cross Poland from the highest to the lowest point. I went to the Tatra and climbed up on Rysy (2499m). After I used for my run the smallest possible paved roads. I carried only the small daypack, maps, few cloths and sleeping bag.
I slept on the bus stops or on empty constructions sites, in cold October nights.
I had small problems according to thin insulation under my sleeping bag - in the Central Poland my knee get injured from the cold. I walked barely. When I found abandoned house in a small village I stayed there for 2 days with frightening vision of a return by bus. The pain still didn't allow me to run, but I could march. So I walked to the end.
In Raczki Elblaskie I was looking for indications where exactly is the lowest point of Poland (-1.8 m). However, none of the villagers knew about that, so I decided to complete the run/walk to Cape Rozewie (the most northern cape of Poland).
In 10 October 1998, after 16 days walk and run, 818 kilometres struggle, I reached the target.
